CoinPoker Announces a $50,000,000 Series in August

A $50,000,000 tournament series will start August 23 on CoinPoker, running daily until September 28.

This festival is called the Global Online Poker Championship. The “Global” part is because of the schedule, which appears to be tuned to the Latin America, Europe, and Asia time zones. Basically, the site is saying that anybody can find a healthy lineup at any time they log on.

Another perk of the series are the “Medal Events,” which give real trophies to the winners, and digital trophies for the second and third place finishers (displayed on their player profile in CoinPoker). There will be over 700 of these Medal Events in the schedule.

Then there’s the buy-in flexibility, with entry from $2.20 to $25,500. CoinPoker says there will be three buy-in levels for highlight events. So, on top of the easygoing schedule, there are tournament options from the low-stakes up to the high-stakes.

Let’s go through the main points of this series one by one.

Highlight Tournaments

The full schedule has not been released by CoinPoker yet, but it will probably appear in the client closer to August 23.

The single biggest prize pool of the series comes from the $530 Main Event, which has a $3,500,000 GTD. It’s a two-day structure and has several Day 1 flights running before Day 2.

For now, we also know about several highlight tournaments.

Another valuable part of the schedule comes from CoinMasters.

For those who don’t know, CoinMasters has been a super long-running promotion on CoinPoker. Players collect one of seven different crypto coins for winning daily events. Victorious players get real gold-plated or silver trophies, and once players collect all seven coins, there’s a final table paying a $100,000 poker career. Collectors can enter up to $100,000 worth of freerolls as well.

So far, over 1,300 different players have collected CoinMasters coins.

But in the GOPC, many of these tournaments get a boost.

The $150 BITCOIN is the flagship of the CoinMasters promotion, and usually just has a $150,000 to $200,000 GTD.

It will reach $400,000 GTD in the GOPC series, and other events like the SHIBA, FLOKI, and DOGE will also get a big boost.

The Medals

There will be over 700 events in the GOPC that award medals.

The Gold Medal will be a real trophy, though CoinPoker doesn’t give specifics on the materials yet. These will likely get shipped to players after the series is finished. It’s nice to see the site taking a WCOOP kind of approach, giving players something permanent to hang on to.

The Silver and Bronze versions will be digital, and these will get displayed inside the CoinPoker app.

Players have something called a Trophy Cabinet, and this stores all of a player’s digital trophies for winning highlight events.

Low, Mid, and High Main Events

The different Main Events from this series will award a total of $4,250,000.

The largest is the Main Event, with a buy-in of $530 and a $3,000,000 guarantee. This is the largest tournament CoinPoker has ever held in the site’s entire history. It wasn’t too long ago that they were running tournament series with similar guarantees, and now a single event covers that completely.

Here’s the trio of mains for the GOPC:

• Main Event: $530 Buy-In – $3,000,000 GTD
• Global Main: $55 Buy-In – $1,000,000 GTD
• Global Mini Main: $11 Buy-In – $250,000 GTD

There are Sunday flights for the Main Event, and probably a wealth of satellites to add cheaper pathways to the tournament. Day 2 starts on September 28.

For the $55 and $11 buy-in versions, Day 1 flights are plentiful. Three run every day for both. The Day 2 tournaments for both lower Main Events start on September 21.

$350,000 from Three Different Promotions

There will be $220,000 worth of leaderboards for the GOPC, and $130,000 from a mechanic called Bankroll Boosts. How the two leaderboards work is very clear, but the Bankroll Boosts are much more vague.

We’ll get into each promotion now.

$200,000 from the Regional Leaderboards

CoinPoker says that “finishing strong” in the GOPC tournaments will earn players points, and this will put them on the Regional Leaderboards. There is one leaderboard for each region (Europe, LATAM, and Asia) and within each one, three different buy-in tiers.

We assume that “finishing strong” means cashing in the events, recording an ITM finish.

The prizes favor the European region, probably just because of higher player traffic.

$20,000 from the Podium Race

This promotion is very straightforward, but only rewards five players. These will be the highest-performing players of the GOPC series.

When you play in a medal event, and win a medal (1st, 2nd, or 3rd place), you will earn points.

• Gold Medals: 10 points
• Silver Medals: 5 points
• Bronze Medals: 2 points

At the end of the GOPC, the five players who built up the most points will split up the $20,000. It’s probably good that the prize pool is small, since only the best of the best will get rewarded and this won’t benefit most competitors.

$130,000 from Bankroll Boosts

This is the most unclear part of the promotions for this series. Bankroll Boosts were released as one of CoinPoker’s reward mechanics, kind of as a support payment. Think of it like GGCares, the mechanic from GGPoker that gives players a small reward if they get a bad beat. The only issue is that CoinPoker’s version is not as clear about who qualifies.

The site says, “These support rewards can step in when you’re going through a stretch of negative variance,” but gives no further details. The operators probably have a threshold set for $ lost, or perhaps running a certain amount under EV unlocks this reward.

They say that players can receive tournament tickets, task-based rewards, and other second chance rewards, but that’s all we know. Perhaps more clarity will come before the series begins.

Other Promotions for GOPC Players

On top of the $350,000 in promotions, players can always unlock a 150% first deposit bonus if they haven’t signed up yet.

Then there is the CoinPoker rakeback system that pays $7,000,000 across the player pool, called CoinRewards.
