After a slightly disappointing stretch in the high-stakes scene (including LLinusLLove playing NL2K), there’s been a bit of a revival.
It mostly happened on CoinPoker. This revival was capped off by a generational run from an unknown player called BTCdemon, who ran it up to about $1,600,000 from $80,000.
Rui Cao, Venividi, PR0DIGY, Linus Loeliger, Kayhan Mokri, and more big names were also in the nosebleed streets as well.
Let’s see some of the high-stakes poker action from July and August.
RicFlair vs iPunt, COHIBA, & Others
A 4-bet from iPunt leads to what appears to be a safe flop. No draws really, just the set of jacks to be worried about.
That’s exactly what RicFlair has.
iPunt rivers top set and a straight, scooping over $20,000 from this pot.
Later on, yolof1 and COHIBA join the action, but they don’t make it out of preflop.
RicFlair 3-bets preflop, and him and iPunt see the 8c3d5d, opening up several draws. They’ve both got a piece, but it goes check-check.
The 5h turn is perfection for iPunt, but RicFlair leads, gets raised, and shoves.
The river is clean for iPunt. The flushes and full houses don’t appear for RicFlair.
The rough ride continues for RicFlair at the same table, this time against COHIBA .
RicFlair pots it preflop, gets raised by COHIBA to 14bb, and then 4-bets over him and iPunt for 56bb.
On the flop, COHIBA shoves when it checks to him, iPunt folds, and RicFlair calls.
Neither high roller has a flush draw, and RicFlair can’t beat a straight in the 257bb pot on either board.
This is turning into the RicFlair bad luck thread.
In another hand, Bigdawg21 outflops a superior Jack, then rivers a full house against RicFlair’s top top. Maximum value? Yes.
RicFlair can not seem to get away from Aces, at least in this thread.
He 4-bets to 50bb preflop, flops nothing but a low straight draw, and shoves anyway.
yolof1 calls with a gutshot and flush draw. Two pair on the top board, straight on the next one. 279bb pot moves away from RicFlair.
That classic spot. You’ve flopped a straight and there’s a flush draw on the flop.
iPunt raise’s yolof1’s open, and both check the flop they smash.
yolof1 goes for a bit of value on the turn, betting half pot, and of course, getting called.
Both improve on the river, but only one has a full house.

Linus Loeliger vs Pisco Sour
Down at $10/$20 on GGPoker, Linus Loeliger opens Ace-Queen off to 3x and gets called by PiscoSour and his suited connector.
Linus c-bets the same, gets raised, and calls with his ace-high.
Our high-card holding Swiss pro drills his Queen on the turn, but no more money goes in on this street.
Thinking he’s likely ahead, the river actually takes Linus’s lead away.
Schyllae vs VASKABOINIK
Heads-up at $50/$100 on CoinPoker, VASKABOINIK makes a 2.5bb open. Schyllae makes an interesting raise back at him, for just 1.5bb more.
Schyllae c-bets quarter pot, and VASKABOINIK calls with his flush.
The runout gives Schyllae more than enough to value bet… or call a shove perhaps?
Espiriting vs mild15207691
Brutal cooler over in the $50/$100 6-max games on CoinPoker.
Espiriting takes the rare approach and calls the open with Kings. mild15207691 raises when it gets back to him, and Espiriting calls again.
Almost like he knew the runout. mild15207691 keeps value owning himself to the very last chip.
The BTCdemon Saga
One of the highlights of this compilation comes from an unknown, named BTCdemon.
By the end of the upswing, this mysterious player turned high five figures into seven.
At $1,000/$2,000, he took on everyone, including some of the best in the game.

Raise from PR0DIGY and a call from BTCdemon preflop.
PR0DIGY c-bets about two-thirds, but the demon bumps it up to $23,520 with the open-ender.
The turn slows down our aggressive newcomer, but he hangs on until the perfect river card.
PR0DIGY got a fortunate turn for about $250,000 in this next hand.
BTCdemon played the aggressor preflop, raising PR0DIGY’s open from $4,500 to $15,660.
The demon switched gears on the turn and checked, but then shoved river, repping the ace.
Chris “ Lukabrate ” Nguyen took him on next, taking down a $125,400 pot with quads.
BTCdemon got it back, smooth calling a flop raise with his flopped straight, then raising turn and shoving river. $276,160 pot to the demon.
The back and forth continued, with BTCdemons two pair falling to a higher two pair for a $418,150 pot.
Lukabrate ended up close to $1.2 million at one point, but by the end, BTCdemon took back the throne.
The match ended after Lukabrate used EV Cashout on the turn. He’d flopped the low end of a straight, and almost $900,000 was in the middle.
Even though Chris Nguyen held, this cashout didn’t sit right with BTCdemon, and he left.
"Whales like that hate when u cash out EQ," a regulars wrote to Chris on Twitter.
BTCdemon lost a big one at the 6-max tables, running into a flopped full house but turning the nut flush. A player like him isn’t folding that.

RuiCao vs LLinusLLove
At $200/$400 on CoinPoker, Linus found a player to give him some action.
Not really much of a hand, but nice to see the Swiss legend out of NL2K.
RuiCao raises, and a few reraises later, both players are all in.
The hand goes as expected.
