What’s the worst advice you can give to a brand new player…and they wouldn’t know it was bad?

— "If you feel your bluffs are getting called too often, move up in stakes until they respect you."

– "If it’s worth a call, it’s worth it all."

— "Limp in no matter what you have, you never know when you might flop two pair!"

– "*a boat."

– "*quads."

— "Call more and raise less."

— "Playing off-suit hands is ideal because you can make two different flushes."

— "Play PLO. It's easier to make a pair."

– "The only bet you should ever make is 'Pot.'"

– "I've played in some games where this is true, though. But in general, you are correct."

— "Always limp as a trap preflop."

– "It’s called ‘The Hellmuth’."

– "I did that one time when I was starting out UTG, got 8 limps. Flop came , guess who won the pot? LJ, who jammed on the flop with offsuit!"

– "You probably just have to fold this 8 way. Actually a pretty bad jam by offsuit since he's not folding out or and probably not getting paid by an overpair. Another reason limping is bad is because a lot of people don't know how to fold it on bad runouts. I've actually seen people calling river bets with black aces on a 4-heart paired board because they can't accept the fact their aces got cracked."

— "In poker, you lose the most money by making compound mistakes. If you just go all-in pre-flop, you can only make 1 mistake and therefore lose the least."

– "You know it’s funny, once you’re sub 15 BB, this becomes true."

– "And if you lose all-in the first time, just buy back in & bet all-in again and again until it finally works."

– "This is why tournaments protect the bad players."

– "What?"

– "All you do is find any ace to rip 15bb in preflop with."

The poker lovers of Reddit had some advice for a user about to play their first live game. Some of it was fantastic.

— "Always buy in for the minimum to protect your bankroll. And as soon as you double it up, get up, and leave so that you lock in profit!"

– "This is ironically great advice for terrible players. Terrible players will eventually lose their whole stack if they sit on the table long enough.

With this advice, they're losing the minimum when they bust, and giving them a reason to leave once they up."

— "Don’t bluff at low stakes."

– "Honestly you can be profitable while never bluffing at $2/$5 and below. Most people underbluff and overcall, so you'll get paid off when you hit good hands against mediocre hands, and you can make hero laydowns in spots most others couldn't. I can't tell you the amount of times I've had something like against offsuit and gotten 3 streets of heavy value on rainbow. Like, yeah, it's bad advice in general, but far from the worst, but still sounds plausible advice out there."

– "It will stunt your game completely. There are plenty of spots in the game tree where even low-stakes players massively overfold. But yes, you can be profitable without bluffing much at low stakes. And if you don’t care about improving, you could follow that advice and be fine"

— "Watch Rampage and Wolfgang poker videos for the best advice."

Ben Rolle (Bencb) thinks he's found a possible nit-roll between Rampage and Wolfgang in the No Gamble No Future game. Is he right?

— "Martingale your way to profitability."

— "You should ignore any and all information on GTO and just take Charlie Carrel's exploit course."

– "Ah, yes! That dirty hippy is a MASTER of the live tells. He never tells anyone either because he’s so humble."

– "Also follow him for life advice or advice on any topic because he will surely be an expert on everything."

– "TBH this probably isn’t the WORST advice you could give."

— "Raise all your chips but one, so if they go all in, you have pot odds."
