1,476 players on Day 4 of the Main Event returned to the tables to wait for the money after 15 eliminations. They won't be bored for long, as the organizers have decided to help them out and have awarded a $30,000 paid trip to a winter tournament in the Bahamas to the player who busts on the bubble. However, they still have to survive until the bubble.
A short recap for Day 3 of the Main Event is below, followed by Day 4's events.
Safiya Umerova raises to 16,000 from first position. Andreas Christoforou 3-bets a huge 75,000 from UTG+1. Everyone folds, but Safiya decides to see the flop.
On the flop Umerova checks, gets a continuation bet of 60,000 and check-raises to 165,000. The opponent calls.
On the turn comes out . Umerova decides to check. The opponent bets 200,000. The opponent calls.
River – . Here both slow down. After two checks, Safiya shows top pair , and that's enough to win. A creative check-raise on the flop allows you to win a huge pot!
Safiya Umerova – 1,400,000.
Josh Reichardt raises to 16,000 from early position. Thi Xoa Nguyen calls from the hijack.
The flop comes . Reichard bets 18,000, Nguyen calls.
On the turn Reichardt checks – the texture really doesn't suit the early position players' ranges. Nguyen, however, bets 50,000. He is called.
River – . Reichardt checks again and an aggressive Nguyen moves all-in, forcing Reichardt to make a decision – risk his tournament life or keep his 200,000 and calmly fold to the money.
Reichard looks at his , studies the situation and makes a call.
Nguyen shows , and Reichard doubles!
The bold decision paid off handsomely – at the end of the day, Reichardt will be in the top 40 out of more than 500 players.
Maxim Pisarenko opens the action with a raise to 22,000 and gets two calls, from Viktor Vladov in the hijack and David McLaws in the small blind. Ham Hammaker, who posted the big blind and the ante, is left with only two thousand chips, which he will have to put in the small blind in the next hand anyway. With a shrug, he throws his chips over the line and goes for a quadruple.
Flop – – Maxim likes it and bets 28,000. This is enough to get rid of Vladov, but McLaws quickly calls.
Thorn – . McLaws checks. Maxim repeats the same bet – 28,000. The opponent calls without the slightest hesitation.
River – , and the players head to showdown. McLaws shows off his neatly played preflop . With Maxim it turns out to be a split – a common straight. But Hammaker demonstrates – a very long straight flush and a fabulous quadruple!
With one player left in the money, the short-stacked players push each other to hunt for the $30,000 ticket. Three are eliminated at once, and the fate of the $25,000 WSOP Paradise Super Main Event ticket with a $60 million guarantee is decided by lot.
Matthew Frankland, Marco Dickner and Sachin Joshi all go to table 448 and are dealt two cards. Sachin has Doyle Brunson's T2o, Dickner has the best hand with a pair of nines and Frankland has Q4o.
They put it on the table , and Frankland gets a free entry into the tournament. No one is left without a consolation prize: the three eliminated players split two min-cash among themselves, so that each takes home $10,000.
Michael Mizrachi, who was clearly suffering with a short stack the day before and on the bubble, starts to get going. From the hijack he makes a raise to 16,000. The extremely active Safiya Umerova enters from the small blind.
Flop – . Mizrachi turns to the PokerNews reporters and tells them that this is going to be an interesting hand, then bets 33,000. Umerova raises to 66,000. Mizrachi moves all-in for 169,000 and gets called.
Mizrachi has the bottom set, Safiya has top two pairs. The turn and river do not change the situation, Michael Mizrachi doubles up.
Safiya – 1,140,000, Mizrachi- 420,000.
In the last hand before the break the board is . Jeff Gross checked from the BB and Poland's Sylwia Studniarz bet 60,000 from early position. Gross announced all-in for 262,000.
Studniarz thinks for five minutes, discussing the situation with his opponent every now and then. Finally, she hints that she has – straight draw.
– If you have Do what you have to do, Gross says.
I wonder what exactly he meant? Sylvia decided to call in the last seconds of the time bank.

Sylvia's stack is such that she can afford to be a bit naughty – She has 1,345,000, and Gross has 609,000.
Safiya Umerova raises to 22,000 (blinds are already 5k/10k) from early position, Mizrachi defends the BB.
Flop check. Turn – . Michael checks, gets a delayed continuation bet of 25,000, and check-raises to 69,000. Safiya calls.
River – . Mizrachi puts 55,000. Safiya pays this small addition with top top – , but the opponent is stronger with .
Umerova – 967,000, Mizrachi – 639,000.
Joshua Boulton raises to 20,000 from the middle. Nazar Bugayev re-raises to 55,000 from the hijack. James Obst shoves to 150,000 from the button. Boulton folds, and Bugayev has to make a decision with ATo. After carefully studying the much-aged online star of the late 2000s, Nazar makes the call.
At the flop, – dominance. On the flop Bugaev's number of outs increases, and a queen is put on the river. Obst is knocked out.
Bugaev's stack is 1,100,000.
Inquisitive colleagues from PokerNews have discovered the oldest participant in the main tournament.
Robert Buckenmeyer was born on August 17, 1944 and will soon turn 81.
This is his fifth time cashing in the WSOP Main Event. He also has two very respectable long runs to his credit –
2012 WSOP – 17th place ($369,026)
2015 WSOP – 39th place ($164,086)
The veteran's stack is short – 195,000, but he can work with it. He will play the fifth day.

Frenchman Ibrahim Senussi raises to 25,000 (blinds 6k/12k). Two seats away, Jeffrey Deegan decides to call. Conor O'Rourke squeezes to 115,000 in the cutoff.
The word returns to Senussi, and he thinks for a long time. Time passes, but there is still no solution, and the players ask to time him.
As the manager walks to the table, Senussi suddenly takes out his phone, opens a calculator and starts calculating the pot odds.
Josh Arieh, who is sitting at the same table, gives him a warning – you can’t use your phone during the deal. Some tension arises.
The manager who came up to me recommended to play the hand to the end and then deal with the violation of the rules.
In the final seconds of the time bank, Senussi announces all-in. Both of his opponents immediately fold. Senussi receives a penalty in the form of a one orbit sitout for using his phone during the hand. However, the language barrier comes into play – Senussi does not understand that he is being fined. When this is explained to him, the player goes berserk and aggressively expresses his complaints to Josh Arieh.

Kassouf raises to 40,000 from the hijack. Terence Clee 3-bets to 70,000 from the BB.
– What kind of tricks are you doing? – Kassouf doesn't understand. – What's the idea of 3-betting so weakly, I won't fold anything? – He calls.

Will Kassouf is moved to former world champion Greg Merson's table, which will be going on TV after the break. While the players fill out biographical questionnaires, Gary Tomes limps from the small blind into Kassouf's big blind. Kassouf raises to 65,000. Toms calls.
Flop – . Kassouf bets 100,000. Toms calls.
Turn – . And Tomes takes the initiative: he announces all-in 320,000.
“I thought you were going to check. I think you have top pair and a flush draw. And if you have a flush, I have outs,” Kassouf says. “I don’t think I have a fold. But tell me: are you really not going to go to the TV table with me and Greg? Are you really happy with $30,000? Do you want to take the money and go to a bar with your friends?”
“Okay, let’s go,” Kassouf says after a couple more minutes and moves his chips to call.
Tomes flips .

River – , Toms is eliminated from the tournament.
"Yes, he really wanted to leave as soon as possible. He doesn't care about the prize, he's a millionaire," Kassouf teases. Tomes smiles and asks the dealer for permission to take a photo of the table, then heads for the exit.
Of the 9,735 participants in the main event, 522 make it to Day 5.
