Liv Boeree

One of the most famous females in the poker world, a long-time PokerStars ambassador, TV presenter, science populariser and long term girlfriend of Igor Kurganov.

Becoming a trained astrophysicist, winning $4,000,000 in poker, starting a charity and speaking at scientific conferences - few people can boast such a solid and varied list of accomplishments as Liv Boeree. She first came to prominence in 2005 on the UK poker show ‘The Showdown’ when she picked up her chips from Phil Hellmuth - and a few years later in the EPT San Remo Main Event where she won €1,250,000.

By mid-2010 Liv was all over the poker world, with Stars inviting to her to join Team PokerStars Pro, Loaded Magazine and Maxim bringing her to poker photo shoots (footage is scattered all over news sites), hosting the UK and Ireland Poker Tour on Channel 4 and a BBC series bringing her in as a game theory expert.

And all this without giving up her poker career! By 2021, Liv Boeree had won over $3,800,000 in live tournaments, though after parting ways with PokerStars in 2019 it's easier to meet her on her own sci-fi Youtube channel than at the tables.

Liv herself cites Raising for Effective Giving (REG), a charity founded with poker friends in 2014, as one of the most important projects of her life. The high rollers agree to regularly donate a portion of their poker winnings to sustainable living, and over the years have raised over $14,000,000 for poverty eradication and animal welfare around the world.
