Been playing $1/$2 for a living since April 18 2025 these are my stats:

The second one is filtered to only my main room. All in all I’ve made about $85,000 since April 18 off all poker.
But 1 2 is my main game. Just posting this cause people seem to have trouble believing you can make money from this game at the lowest of stakes but as a 20 year old there’s few jobs paying $58 an hour
– I just have to ask… Not because I don’t believe you, but because I’m incredibly impressed at this.
Where are you paying time rake for 1/2? What is your time rake rate? And, what’s the max buy-in at the games you play?
Good shit, my guy!
$14 an hour (9 for $99 promo running for March only) and TCH social in Irving 300 cap
– The lack of any real downswings concern me. Don't expect that line to just keep going like that forever
– Tbf when you genuinely have an insanely high winrate variance just matters a lot less.
– Unless that insanely high win rate is because you've been running good for awhile.
– Not comparable, nanonoko was playing 32 tables that’s why the graph appears to have limited variance.

– Also tracks years and years -- you can't even see the month to month variance, let alone session to session.
OP is on a huge upswing and is going to hit hard by reality. Folks here should be preparing them for that.
I am way over rolled for 1 2 I’ll be fine I’d have to go on like a 100 buyin down swing
– OP is certainly skilled enough to play 2/5, but this post is a perfect example of why almost nobody really claims up from low limit cash.
This kid is absolutely obliterating his room and still only made 75k in the year.
I'm not knocking that, or saying it isn't good enough income to live of off.
But even if he doesn't pay any taxes he still isn't making that much money month-to-month...
How do you pay all your bills and build a bankroll off of $6k a month?
Eat rice and beans while sharing a house with 4 other people?
Edit: To the mod who deleted my comment that was completely and totally harmless, had absolutely no curse words, or anything that violates any rules at all. Suck my big fat fucking cock you fucking fagot dork.
– 6k a month is beyond comfortable living for most? Rice and beans and 4 roommates? Do you live in NYC or LA because if not, come back to earth buddy.
– I live in LA. You can comfortably live on 6k month. Even if you pick one of those fancy apartments you still have more than half your income leftover.
Honestly for the year I’ve made 8500 and 13.5 on the first two months and 3 for March. Now I understand this is a very small sample size but when I first started playing for a living I was making around 6-7k a month and I had MASSIVE leaks. I have improved tremendously and really feel like I have very few leaks now and think I will make over 6 figures this year easily. Also I made $85000 in 11 months so not quite $75000 a year but I understand the point.
– Sick graph 📈
How deep do you usually play? Heard your 1/2 games run fairly deep
1284hrs is also quite the grind, are you a legit pro?
Edit: OP is indeed pro
Buyin 300 cap but i usually play long sessions and everyone is deep. It’s very regular for me to be 500 bb deep with several other players.
– It looks like you’re only averaging four hours a session is that considered a long session.
That’s because of all the small sessions I play when I’m just bored cuz I live so close but my big wins are usually longer sessions
– What do the games play like? I mean, if you had to condense how you’re winning consistently, exploiting the player pool there, in a sentence or two – what would say you’re doing, how are the games playing that make it “easy”?
For instance when MGM National Harbor first opened, I was beating their 1/3 for 12bb/hr for the first 4-5yrs by just buying in 150bb deep, seeing cheap flops, and showing the nuts over and over. Games got less splashy around Covid.
Well I just table select. There’s always one guy in the room who is an absolute whale and I know everyone in the room. I play mainly 3b or fold with some exceptions in LP and just try to isolate and don’t run many bluffs because people don’t fold in Texas. The Hold'em bomb pots are also really profitable because people are so unfamiliar with them.
– I’ve been trying so hard to pick this up. Been studying hard the last month or so but I’m going -20 to -40 bb per 100 hands at every table so far and it’s really demoralizing. May I ask which resources you started with?
I just put in the hours live and rigorously obsessed over my hand histories. I didn’t know where to study so I just really thought over all the hands I played even the ones where I won if I thought I missed out on value or anything.
– Good shit but let’s be clear, the goal as a 20-year old is not to make $58/hour. It’s to NOT still be making the same hourly with no benefits or 401K when you’re 60.
Get a job and play poker on the side. Your solid win-rate can absolutely supplement your income, even if you only play 15-20 hours per week.
I highly doubt I’ll be playing 1 2 in 5 years if I don’t gradually increase in stakes then I’d look towards other options but I’d like to at least give this an opportunity because I’m really good at this game.
– What would you say your play style is? TAG or LAG or a mix of both? Do you study regularly or at all?
TAG definitely not Loose pre but super aggressive. I don’t study at all I don’t even know where or how to study
– Why not higher stakes at this point?
I’ve just been spending a lot of money tbh and was kind of being irresponsible for a minute but I’m actually setting aside a roll now that I have real bills.
– “For a living” for less than a year, no bills. Right
I have lived alone since I was 17 bro. Sorry buddy.
– You posted winnings for less than 1 year.
Less than 10 % of poker players are successful lifetime.
Come back in 30 years with your “winnings”
– What was your starting bankroll? And what were/are your biggest swings buy in wise in a single session? You say you table select to look for a whales. What does that look like. If you in a game where there are no whales, how does your approach change?
If I walk in the room and there’s not a soft game I just don’t play. My starting roll was like 10k. Biggest swing in a session probably 7 buyins. I don’t believe in a stop loss it doesn’t make much sense if you’re playing for profit. Poker is one big session
– Wow, congrats. You look like a very solid winner over a nice sample size. What would you attribute to your success and where are you making the most money ? Is it nutted hands and big value bets or small ball stuff that keeps your win rate up?
Probably being able to fold in spots Recs don’t and going thin for value.
