On the internet, you can find descriptions of many “profitable” strategies for sports betting, trading, and even casino games. Don't rush to follow them – if they all worked, the world would be full of millionaires, so treat any such information as critically as possible.

Today we will talk about two ideas; the Martingale strategy and the anti-Martingale strategy. Before we talk about anti-Martingale, what is the essence of the classic version?

Martingale in trading

The Martingale system is not only suitable for trading.

Initially, the strategy was used for gambling. The idea is simple to use: after each lost hand, you double your next bet. The method only works in formats where there are two outcomes – victory or defeat. Therefore, despite the common myth, it cannot be used when playing roulette, betting on even or odd, because there is a third option – the loss of the zero sector.

The logic of the Martingale concept is as follows: sooner or later, you will get back all the money you spent and even gain a small profit.

One of the disadvantages of the approach is the high bankroll requirements. For example, you are on Sportsbetting wagering on tennis with odds of 2 or slightly more (but not less). The first bet of $1 loses. The second will be $2, the third will be $4, and the fourth will be $8. It doesn’t seem costly at this rate, but the tenth bet will be $512. And it is done for the sake of a total win of $1.

Are you ready to take such risks? Such a protracted series of failures is quite possible, although it does not happen very often. Moreover, the maximum bet is limited, so it will not always be possible to complete this optimistic "ladder", even if you have an unlimited supply of money.

There is also a reverse Martingale strategy, called the anti-Martingale.

In the event of a win, the bet increases, and in the event of a loss, on the contrary, it decreases. It works well when you are on a lucky streak, and during downswings, it saves capital, preventing you from spending it quickly.

So, is the anti-Martingale strategy preferred to the original Martingale strategy?

There is no ideal and universal winning strategy. You can try to use martingale and anti-martingale tactics in sports betting, but you need to be aware of the risks.

The anti-Martingale concept looks more attractive due to the geometric increase in profits, but here it is important to stop in time. For example, after three or five successful bets in a row, you start climbing the "ladder" all over again.

But over the long term, none of these strategies will bring you stable profits. No "system" will work either in a casino or in betting. It's not for nothing that both gambling establishments and bookmakers earn huge amounts of money – they work very well with the theory of probability and do not allow regulars to exploit them.

Whatever strategies you use, they will always remain in the black. You can win in bets at a distance, but thanks to the use of bonuses, and not using cunning schemes. And in a casino, there is no way to get an advantage at all – no matter what articles on the internet tell you.

If you like the feeling of excitement and want to play for real money, we recommend taking a closer look at online poker. The result depends on the skill of a particular player, meaning that your training could pay off. Players play against each other, and not against the casino, so the one who is stronger will win in the long run.

Train hard, monitor your results, and avoid the assumption you’re smarter than everyone at the table. Professionals show up to the table and perform well, but not because of some God-given talent or mental calculator. In most cases, they’ve dedicated time to studying the game, before and after they sit at poker tables.

Online poker is the most convenient way to enter the game, but you need to choose correctly. Each site supports you differently, from their loyalty program, selection of games, and player traffic. Some might not suit your location or have unreasonable fees, so choose a poker room wisely.
