Twenty years ago, most online games, were played at 9-max tables. It's pretty standard in live poker, but things have really changed online.

Even in the most popular poker rooms, it's not always possible to find a 9-max cash game table at the stakes you prefer. However, many players still prefer 9-max:

  • The variance is lower, reducing swings
  • The ranges are narrower, allowing for less complex play
  • The rake is lower, as you can see on our cash game rake comparison page

Even when sites do have 9-max, some poker rooms are throwing a spanner in the works by adding new features to familiar tables like bomb pots, antes, and mandatory straddles.

This article will help you navigate the bizarre world of full ring poker in 2026.

Poker Sites with Full Ring Games

First, let's find rooms where 9-max games are played without antes, straddles, or other twists.

The main advantage of these tables is low variance. Here's what one of the most prominent full-ring regulars, gerakla, has to say about this on the forum :

"There's almost no variance at full ring, which is one of its advantages. With my win rate (7-8 BB/100) at NL 50-100, the minimum comfortable bankroll is 20 buy-ins. 30 buy-ins is more than enough."

Phil Galfond, who developed a variance calculator specifically for cash game players , comes to similar conclusions. With a standard deviation of 80 BB/100 and a win rate of 5 BB/100 at NL100, the probability of losing 20 buy-ins over 100,000 hands is less than 5%.

According to gerakla, the game in 8-max and 9-max is not much different, but short-handed regulars may have difficulties when switching to full ring:

"There's not much difference between 8-max and 9-max if you know how to play. It's easy to transition from full ring to 8-max, but the other way around is difficult because you have to fold more at full ring, and the fold button is what really makes you win because of the tight ranges."

gerakla believes the main problem with full-ring is the game's volume:

"There's not much action at full ring right now, NL200 is the top limit, and there's not much action there."

WPN (Poker King, ACR, BlackChip Poker)

Although the rooms in this network regularly add tables with bomb pots to their lobbies, most of the action still takes place at the familiar 9-max tables.

Since the Winning Poker Network is primarily aimed at US players, the most action is found between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM GMT time. Typically, there are 1-3 tables available at NL10 to NL200. NL500 or NL1K tables are also occasionally available.

On the downside, there aren't many active tables during the day, and according to GipsyTeam players, the field is, on average, stronger than at competing poker platforms.

The flagship room of the Winning Poker Network, with player-friendly terms for poker players from Europe, Asia, andy. It stands out for strong traffic at low and mid stakes in cash games, regular high buy-in tournaments, and weekly rake races. WPN accepts players from the United States. The best time to play is in the evening and night time UTC.

Stake Poker

This newish room from a well-known online casino, to the surprise of many, is now one of the main vanues for classic full-ring poker.

There's a relatively large number of 9-max games at almost any time of day, and in the evenings and nights in GMT time, it's not uncommon to see three or four tables even at NL500. Even at these stakes, there are still many recreational players coming from the casino.

Stake Poker lobby at 1:00 PM GMT time

The room's downsides include mandatory browser play, high rake, no rakeback, and an anonymous lobby (you can't select a table or see players' nicknames). Furthermore, Stake's promotions are geared toward recreational players, not professionals, so don't expect classic rake races.

Many people know it for sports betting and casino games, but you can also play poker games on Stake.com. The crypto-only company has been around since 2017, but poker is a recent addition that came in May 2024. Most of the action is found in the Texas Holdem cash game lobby, but Stake Poker also has MTT tournaments and a small Pot-Limit Omaha scene. We’ll give you our review of what poker is like on Stake.com.

PokerStars

Full ring poker remains at PokerStars, the home of more niche variants than any other site.

9-max Hold'em tables are available, though they are significantly less popular than 6-max. During evening prime time, there are over a dozen tables up to NL50. At NL100-200, there are usually four or five. Since July 2025, at stakes below $2.50/$5, you cannot select a specific table or seat. After entering the game, you are seated automatically.

PokerStars has some of the lowest table fees on the market. For example, at NL100, the rake is around 5BB/100. The room is also renowned for its security: bots and scammers generally don't stick around for long.

Chico Network (TigerGaming, BetOnline, SportsBetting)

For a long time, Chico Network rooms featured a lot of 9-max tables and no bomb pots. In 2025, the situation changed: 8-max became the most popular format, and traffic partially shifted to tables with antes of 1 to 4 big blinds. However, classic full-ring poker also remained.

As with WPN, the players at the tables are predominantly American, so the best time to play is late at night and early mornings in GMT time. According to our traffic tracker, on average, there are 1-3 NL200 tables per week during prime time. The games are even busier at lower limits.

Chico's downsides include relatively high rake, meager rakeback, and a closed lobby. Furthermore, the network regularly stops affiliate program payouts and freezes Russian accounts. GipsyTeam has currently ceased cooperation with this network and recommends against holding large amounts of money there.

Poker Sites with Full Ring Games & Ante

To increase the dynamics (and rake), poker rooms add antes. Regulars are forced to open more hands, and their edge over amateurs is reduced. At these rooms, stacks at tables often significantly exceed 100 big blinds.

Here's what a coach and regular at 9-max tables with antes, TOLDO, has to say about this:

"Variance increases with antes, deeper stacks (e.g., 200BB instead of 100BB), more multi-way pots, more difficult turn/river decisions, and a stronger impact of coolers and postflop. For example, a set-to-set pot at 100BB and a set-to-set pot at 200BB are completely different stories in terms of money."

But there are also advantages. This format allows for increased win rates against amateurs and weak regulars.

TOLDO:

"9-max deep ante has a bonus—many regs still haven't adapted to multi-way pots, deep stacks, antes, and non-standard SPRs. Therefore, they make a lot of mistakes postflop."

Bankroll management in this format requires significantly more conservative management than in classic full-ring. The standard deviation here will be around 100-150 BB/100, and for comfortable play, regulars recommend 70-100+ buy-ins per limit.

GGPoker

You can find full-ring action at this market leader at any time of day. There are many active tables up to NL1,000. Buy-ins here range from 50 to 200 big blinds, so the action is more often deep-stacked than usual.

In 2026, the room lowered the ante to ~0.2 BB, which led to a decrease in variance and rake, although the latter, according to forum users, is still very high – now around 17 BB/100, and was as high as 20 BB/100.

Because of the ante and high rake, using standard full-ring charts is not recommended here. The extra money in the pot expands opening and defending ranges, especially in late positions. However, the high rake has the opposite effect, making some marginal calls unprofitable. This is most noticeable in cold calls from open positions and when defending blinds.

Preflop preparation requires calculations for a specific limit, ante, stack depth, and rake. It's helpful to compare 2.5 big blinds and 3 big blinds opens separately. A larger sizing reduces the number of multi-way pots and simplifies subsequent play.

The lobby is open, but you should be careful with the selection; bumhunting is strictly prohibited online. The criteria for issuing warnings aren't always transparent, but here are some general recommendations to follow:

  • VPIP doesn't matter, only table management matters.
  • After the recreational player leaves, always play a couple of rounds.
  • Avoid hunting for a specific player by following him across tables and stakes.

GGPoker is a Hold’em and Omaha focused site on the Good Game Network. Offering a broad range of playing formats such as Randomised Sit & Gos, All-in or Fold, and 6+ Short Deck as well as fast cash games, and a plethora of tournament series including: GGMasters, GGMillions and Bounty Hunters.

QQPoker

QQPoker has plenty of full-ring action. Even at mid-stakes, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM GMT time, you can find 4-7 active tables in the evening. Unlike GGPoker, it's full-ring, 8-max, and the ante is 40-50% of the small blind. Buy-ins range from 40 to 150 big blinds.

The QQPoker lobby is open, and the rake is relatively low. For example, at NL100, it's 4% with a 3BB cap and is only taken postflop. Registering with GT will give you an additional 40% net rakeback.

The room does have some serious drawbacks: the PC client is still crude and often freezes, and players often complain about bots and team players, so it's best to play with extreme caution.

QQPoker (QQPK) offers access via a dedicated mobile app for Android and iOS, desktop clients for Windows and macOS, and a browser-based version. Tables now support both vertical (portrait) and horizontal (landscape) orientation. The tables are primarily populated by recreational players from Asia.

Poker Sites with Full Bomb Pot Ring Games

Bomb pots have long been known in poker, but they've only gained popularity online in the last couple of years. As a reminder, the rules are as follows: every hand requires a mandatory ante from each player at the table, and betting begins immediately on the flop.

Variance at such tables increases significantly, and each room sets its own parameters for the frequency of "bombs" and the ante size. Here's how coach and regular ZloyJoker describes play at such tables:

"Playing at tables with bomb-pots is an acquired taste! Everyone has 100% ranges, there's 30 or 45 big blinds in the pot, and you have to fight for that pot somehow. Everything that happens there resembles a drunken brawl at a country disco. Everyone does their best. It can be a lot of fun, and I think in these hands, players with live experience have an advantage, since multi-way pots are common."

The main and obvious advantage is that this game is attractive to looser fun-loving players:

"There are a lot of recreational players at these tables because there's action. It's not uncommon to see three or more people getting all-in on the flop. You rarely see that at a regular table. These spots play out differently: some might go all-in with any top pair, while others might only go all-in with a set. This makes it very difficult to develop a strategy that works against everyone. Every decision requires evaluating many factors.

I think these tables are profitable, but only because there are always enough amateurs there. But the action in "regular" hands isn't really affected by the bomb pots. Until the bomb hits the table, everyone behaves well and plays their game. As soon as the bomb hits, the madness and pig races begin. Then everything returns to normal. That's how they play."

BCPoker

8-max is the preferred table size for full ring here. Almost all tables feature a single small blind ante and bomb pots. Bomb pot hands occur every 8-12 minutes, with each player taking 8 big blinds.

The largest number of tables typically range from NL5 to NL50. Occasionally, a higher-stakes game can also be found.

BCPoker differs from other rooms in its maximum buy-in—you can immediately buy-in for 400 big blinds. This reduces variance but allows you to increase your win rate against local amateurs who come from casinos and often buy in for the maximum.

A new poker room by BC.Game, one of the largest bookmakers and casinos, began operating in early 2025. In gambling, the company focuses on transparency of payments, fast deposits via cryptocurrencies, and a decentralized RNG. The same can be expected in poker — while the brand's reputation allows you not to worry about the reliability of your funds.

WPT Global

WPT Global stands out. On the one hand, almost all play here is at 8-max tables, with very little of the more common 6-max online format.

On the other hand, the rules can vary significantly at different tables, and there's no classic ante-less version at all:

  • All tables have an ante, and it is always large – 2 to 2.5 BB
  • Where the ante is equal to the small blind, a mandatory straddle of 2 BB is posted
  • At tables with bomb pots, they activate every 12 minutes, and 8 BB are taken from each player

There are tables with both ante, mandatory straddle and bomb pots.

The starting purchase here is from 100 to 1,000 BB.

The local equivalent of Zoom (called Flash here) is also available in 8-max format. Straddles are mandatory, and you can buy from 100 to 400 BB.

Full-ring action is available at any time of day, and traffic can be even higher than at GGPoker.

Mobile Poker Apps

There are a lot of mobile apps and clubs, and within them, plenty of full-table games in 2026.

However, the classic version hasn't caught on in many places; more often, it's played with additional rules. For example, in ClubGG's largest alliance, Massiv, the lobby features 8-max tables with both ante and bomb pots:

Many PPPoker clubs also offer full-ring tables. These are primarily found at clubs like Pinoy Donks, El Dorado, and PrimeTime.

At Poker Bros, full ring play is primarily played at the Paradise and Lucky Stars clubs in the 9-max format.

The Brazilian single-pool app Suprema features full-ring play at 8-max tables. Most traffic occurs at night and early morning GMT time.

It's difficult to give specific club recommendations, as the best places to play change from month to month. We recommend consulting the GT+ specialists—they keep their finger on the pulse, monitoring the clubs' reputations and player performance, so they can find the right limits and games to suit your preferences.
